Damien Goodwin DIRECTOR

I trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama and the Moscow Art Theatre School and enjoyed a successful career working as an actor in TV, film and theatre before becoming a director.

In 2005 I wrote and directed my first short film LIFT which screened at a number International festivals including: Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Worldwide and Cinema du Paris.  In 2006, producer Bryan Kirkwood saw the film and invited me to direct HOLLYOAKS (C4). Since 2006 I’ve directed over 50 episodes of the series and worked on a number of hard hitting award winning storylines including: the John Paul and Craig gay story, the Hannah anorexia story as well as Christmas week 2009.

Since 2010, I’ve also worked with SIDE UK (award winning specialists in voice and character performance in video games) as a performance capture and VO director on over 60 games including: DRAGON AGE INQUISITION (Bioware); THE DIVISION (Ubisoft) and the recently released PLAYSTATION VR WORLDS for Sony.

In 2011 I was invited by Tony Wood to become drama producer on series 2 & 3 of the BAFTA winning THE ONLY WAY IS ESSEX. In the same year I developed THE WRONG KIND OF SNOW and THE JOY OF EX with screenwriter Davey Jones which are optioned by ITV, Monkey Kingdom and Rainmark Films. I was also invited by Nick Curwin (The Garden Productions) to develop a new factual series: THE AUDIENCE aired in 2012 was nominated for a BAFTA and won a Broadcast International Sales Award and has sold to over 15 countries around the world.

In 2012, I formed Scene 33 Films with Davey Jones and made the short BREAKTHROUGH (with Blake Ritson, Patrick O’Kane and Gillian Kearney). The film has since been seen at Clermont Film Festival, Palm Springs and the IOWFF.  I currently have original drama series in development with both ITV and Playground Entertainment.

Theatre productions include: Roberto Zucco, Disappeared, The Seagull, Great Expectations, The Cabinet Minister as well as My Chekhov and The Unknown (which I also wrote).
